“Thank you so much for your informative talk on Tuesday evening. It was truly our best Parent Night of the year! I felt that the parents were very much engaged in your topic, and that the evening could have gone on much longer.”
Gwen Malone, PTA Co-president, Wedgwood Elementary School
I offer several different interactive talks for parent groups. These talks are packed with information about talking to kids about sex, love and relationships and parents spend time talking with each other, getting some of their burning questions answered and laughing (yes, laughing)!
My lively lectures help parents get motivated to start and continue conversations about sex, love and relationships. My casual and candid manner puts parents at ease and sets the tone for an open and fun learning environment - exactly the environment they should be creating for their kids!
My lectures for professionals can be tailored to the specific needs of the group. Sometimes, daycare providers and preschool teachers need to be reminded of the usual phases of sexual development and to spend some time discussing sexual abuse. Contact me to discuss what you think would be the best information for your group.
About the Birds and Bees and Kids Public Talks
There are currently four talks in my curriculum:
FACTS BY FIVE: Why you should talk to your kids sooner than you think! This talk is for parents of preschoolers and helps parents understand why it is necessary to talk to our children at a very young age and to keep talking.
Birds + Bees + YOUR Kids - It's time to start talking! This talk is for parents of older kids and helps parents understand the reasons for starting sex talks early and sustaining them throughout children's adolescence.
Playing Doctor - What's normal, what's not and what to do when it's happening! This talk is for parents of preschool age children. We discuss childhood sexual development, body exploration play, sexual abuse and how to manage what can be a very distressing moment for parents!
Birds + Bees + Values - What are yours? Most parents don't have a ready answer when it comes to our values about sex, love and relationships. Our sexual values are the foundation on which we build our talks with our kids. In this lecture, we begin the process of clarifying our beliefs about teen sex, abstinence, healthy relationships, and being "ready for sex."
I use an informal, interactive style for all of these talks and attendees are asked to participate in their learning by addressing specific issues in small groups. I provide a lot of information and statistics for parents and make sure there is time for an open question and answer section at the end of each talk
FEES:
Public school lectures - price based on free lunch percentages.
Private schools (preschools, elementary, middle and high schools)

Please contact me for fee information if your group is not included in the above price structures.

“Every parent needs to be able to do everything in their power to protect their children from sexual abuse. Amy Lang is great at describing the signs of sexual abuse and the difference between this and 'exploratory body play' at the preschool level. The discussion is very interactive. You can ask any questions you want and she doesn't assume everyone has the same sexual values.”
Erin Robb, Preschool Teacher
